Abrdn Emerging Markets Equity Income Fund Announces Strategic Changes
abrdn Emerging Markets Equity Income Fund, Inc. (NYSE American: AEF) has revealed significant strategic changes following a board meeting. These changes include a name shift to abrdn Emerging Markets ex-China Fund, Inc. and a revised investment policy now excluding China from its emerging markets equity focus.
Additionally, a 20% tender offer will be initiated in Q1 2025. A new conditional tender policy will be introduced, based on the fund's performance relative to the MSCI Emerging Markets ex-China Index over a three-year period starting March 2025.
Moreover, the fund's annual distribution rate will increase from 6.5% to 10% beginning March 2025. This is intended to sustain quarterly cash distributions and address trade discounts.
