Access to fresh water in the South Pacific: 6 new OSMOSUN installations deployed in Vanuatu
Chartres, September 19, 2024 - OSMOSUN announces the commissioning of 6 OSMOSUN 0.2 SW units in the Republic of Vanuatu. Nearly 5,000 inhabitants on 4 islands will now benefit from constant access to fresh, drinkable and low-carbon water.
Vanuatu, an archipelago of 83 islands in the South Pacific, is facing increased water insecurity due to climate change. Existing solutions, based on oil-fired generators, are costly and not very environmentally friendly. The Vanuatu Water Department has opted for OSMOSUN's innovative and environmentally friendly solutions.
Four OSMOSUN units, connected to solar panels, have been installed in Wala, Rano, Vao and Atchin. Two other mobile units are available for occasional needs. Local teams, trained by OSMOSUN, manage maintenance, with regular visits by experts.
This installation demonstrates the relevance of OSMOSUN solutions in isolated and complex areas. Steps for scaling up in the archipelago and remote islands of the South Pacific are underway.
