Aclara Resources Inc. has announced the appointment of Dr. Kurt Forrester as lead advisor for its heavy rare earths separation project. Dr. Forrester, an expert in solvent extraction with over two decades of experience, will help develop Aclara's new separation facility.
Ramon Barua, Aclara’s CEO, highlighted the company’s aim to establish the first heavy rare earths separation facility outside of China, enhancing Aclara's technical capabilities. This facility will support sustainable energy solutions through environmentally responsible rare earth production.
Aclara's strategy involves sourcing high purity rare earth carbonates from Chile and Brazil, which will be converted into individual oxides. The Saskatchewan Research Council and Hatch Ltd. are key partners in this initiative, with engineering studies expected to conclude by Q3 2024.
Dr. Forrester brings a wealth of experience, having led technical developments in Europe and North America. His expertise will be crucial in advancing Aclara’s vertical integration strategy with confidence.
