Adana Hosts Türkiye's First Social Gastronomy Agriculture Summit
The 8th International Taste of Adana Festival marked a milestone by organizing Türkiye’s inaugural agriculture summit centered on social gastronomy. Held in October, the Çukurova Agriculture Summit took place under the guidance of the Adana Governor's Office and in collaboration with the Social Gastronomy Movement (SGM) from Switzerland. It aimed to address critical issues such as food sustainability, local farming techniques, and the environmental impact of agriculture.
Chef Ebru Baybara Demir led the event, gathering global experts, farmers, and chefs to focus on innovative agricultural practices. A highlight was the Universal Plate initiative, part of World Food Day, where meals were prepared and distributed in Adana and 40 other countries.
The summit's theme, “Taste of the Soil,” emphasized soil health and the efficient use of water resources as essential for sustainable agriculture. The Çukurova region's fertile land made it an ideal location to showcase practices that could be applied globally.
