AdJane's OMV Vaccine Platform Achieves Clinical Validation

AdJane, based in Delft, Netherlands, has announced successful Phase I clinical validation of its native Outer Membrane Vesicle (nOMV) vaccine platform. The study, involving 40 healthy adults, confirmed the platform's ability to induce both mucosal and systemic immune responses when administered intranasally. This trial underscores the potential of the nOMV platform in pandemic preparedness and tackling respiratory infectious diseases.

The trial, published in Vaccines, involved a placebo-controlled, randomized design using a SARS-CoV-2 Spike protein. Results showed that AdJane's approach was safe and effective, inducing dose-dependent systemic immune responses, crucially including mucosal immunity at the nasal mucosa, a critical entry point for respiratory pathogens. These findings are pivotal as current vaccines often struggle with mucosal immunity, limiting their efficacy in preventing infection spread.

AdJane's platform, developed over 30 years, shows adaptability for various pathogens and allows for scaleable deployment. It can be stockpiled under standard refrigeration, making it advantageous for global distribution. The company's efforts are supported by collaborations focusing on pandemic readiness and antimicrobial resistance.
