Air Liquide and Cementir Holding benefit from European support for their decarbonization project
Air Liquide and Cementir Holding Group, through its subsidiary Aalborg Portland, have initiated the ACCSION project in Denmark. This carbon capture and storage project aims to reduce the annual CO2 emissions of the Aalborg Portland cement plant by 1.5 million tons. The European Commission has granted €220 million to this project through the Innovation Fund. The start of operations is scheduled for the end of 2029.
Cement, a major CO2 emitter, sees its impact mitigated thanks to Air Liquide’s CryocapTM technology, capturing 95% of kiln emissions. The Innovation Fund, a key supporter, contributes to the EU’s carbon strategy to achieve climate neutrality by 2050.
