Airbus Updates 2024 Guidance Amid Space and Supply Chain Challenges

Airbus SE has announced an updated guidance for 2024 due to significant challenges in its space activities and commercial aircraft business. The company disclosed charges of approximately €0.9 billion linked to certain telecommunications, navigation, and observation space programs. These charges reflect updated assumptions on schedules, workloads, and risks.

In the commercial aircraft sector, persistent supply chain issues have led Airbus to adjust its delivery forecasts. The company now expects to deliver around 770 commercial aircraft in 2024. The target production rate of 75 A320 Family aircraft per month is now anticipated to be reached by 2027.

Based on these updates, Airbus is targeting an EBIT Adjusted of around €5.5 billion and a Free Cash Flow before Customer Financing of around €3.5 billion for 2024. This guidance is contingent on the absence of further disruptions in the global economy, air traffic, or the supply chain.

Airbus will release its half-year results on 30 July 2024. An analyst call has been scheduled for 24 June 2024 to discuss these updates in detail.
