Wellington College International to Establish First African Campus in Lagos
On January 30, 2026, Wellington College International announced the opening of its first African institution, Wellington College International Lagos, set for September 2027. This launch represents a pivotal expansion of British education into Africa. The school aims to accommodate up to 1,500 students aged 3 to 18, following the English National Curriculum.
Located in Alaro City within the Lekki Free Zone, the 12.5-hectare campus will offer advanced facilities designed by MICA Architects. These include an Olympic-sized swimming pool, performing arts theatre, and integrated STEM labs. As a co-educational boarding and day school, it seeks to merge educational excellence with local strengths.
The project is a joint venture between Wellington College and Rendeavour, enhancing Alaro City’s urban ecosystem. Stephen Jennings of Rendeavour emphasizes the school’s role in shaping Africa’s future by preparing the next generation of leaders.
