Alstom to Supply High-Speed Trains for Morocco's Rail Network
Alstom has signed a €781 million contract with Morocco's National Railway Office (ONCF) to supply 18 Avelia Horizon high-speed trains. This agreement is part of Morocco's high-speed rail expansion, aiming to extend the line to Marrakech, enhancing connectivity for travelers.
The new double-decker trains will reduce travel time between Tangier and Marrakech and aim to lower the carbon footprint. With over 40 years of high-speed train experience, Alstom's Avelia Horizon trains are capable of speeds exceeding 300 km/h, offering flexibility and a unique passenger experience. The design features innovative, shorter power cars and two-level articulated cars.
Avelia Horizon trains offer reduced operating costs with fewer bogies, vital for maintenance savings. This train model also offers the highest seating capacity on the market, minimizing the total cost per seat.
