Ampere and STMicroelectronics Partner for Silicon Carbide Innovation
Ampere and STMicroelectronics announced a multi-year agreement to develop silicon carbide power modules. The partnership aims to optimize power and cooling systems for Ampere’s inverters for electric motors. The agreement is part of an upstream collaboration strategy to design advanced solutions for electric vehicles.
Ampere, from Renault Group, aims to strengthen the value chain of electric motors. By collaborating with STMicroelectronics, they rely on mutual expertise to offer high-performance electric vehicles, with increased autonomy and optimized charging time.
The innovation involves a power system that powers next-generation electric motors, equipped on Ampere vehicles, for greater energy efficiency and reduced carbon emissions. The system includes 400- and 800-volt batteries, enabling rapid charging.
