Ams OSRAM Sells Entertainment and Industry Lamps Business to Ushio for EUR 114 Million

ams OSRAM has announced the sale of its Entertainment and Industry Lamps business to Ushio Inc., a prominent player in optical technologies based in Japan. The deal, valued at EUR 114 million, marks the first major step in ams OSRAM's strategic deleveraging plan. The transaction is projected to conclude by the end of March 2026, with around 500 employees expected to transition to Ushio Inc.

This sale aligns with ams OSRAM's objective to streamline its portfolio and focus on core markets. It follows a series of strategic moves, including extending its Revolving Credit Facility and issuing additional senior notes. The company aspires to achieve a net-debt-to-adjusted-EBITDA ratio below 2, generating proceeds exceeding EUR 500 million.

The sold business segment includes specialty lamps used in infrastructure and cinema, as well as advanced light sources for semiconductor production. In 2024, the unit reported revenues of approximately EUR 170 million. This transaction with Ushio Inc. represents a strategic synergy, given their extensive expertise in the optical technology sector.
