Ams OSRAM Divests Passive Optical Components Assets to Focuslight Technologies for €45 Million

ams OSRAM AG has officially sold its Passive Optical Components assets to Focuslight Technologies Inc., a deal finalized for €45 million in cash. The transaction is part of ams OSRAM's strategic program 'Re-establish the Base', aimed at refining its core business areas. This program involves shedding non-core segments to strengthen the company’s primary offerings in the semiconductor sector.

The sale, expected to complete in the third quarter of 2024, aligns with the company’s objectives to focus on profitable core areas. "We are executing our strategy effectively, proceeding with divestitures that align with our 'Re-establish the Base' program,” commented Aldo Kamper, CEO of ams OSRAM. The acquisition by Focuslight Technologies Inc., based in Xi’an, China, and listed in Shanghai, is contingent upon approvals from its shareholders and Chinese regulatory bodies.

The optical components division for consumer applications, which recorded around €50 million in revenues in 2023, is not included in this deal and is set to phase out by the end of 2024. The said division’s exclusion signifies the company’s precise focus on optimizing and slimming its portfolio to better suit its strategic goals and operational efficiency.
