Anew Climate Delivers Forest Carbon Removal Credits to Microsoft
Anew Climate, LLC, a leader in diverse climate solutions, has announced a significant agreement with Microsoft. The deal involves delivering more than 970,000 nature-based carbon removal credits as part of Microsoft's ambitious goal to become carbon negative by 2030.
These high-integrity removal credits come from Anew's extensive North American forest management projects, involving lands owned by Aurora Sustainable Lands, Acadian Timber Corp., and Baskahegan Company. By focusing on conserving and managing forest properties, these projects aim to avoid net carbon emissions and remove atmospheric carbon.
Lizzie Aldrich, Vice President of Business Development at Anew Climate, emphasized the importance of Microsoft's rigorous focus on quality in their sustainability initiatives. Brian Marrs, Senior Director of Energy and Carbon Removal at Microsoft, highlighted the financial incentives these credits provide for sustainable forestry practices.
Nature-based solutions like improved forest management are instrumental in meeting climate goals. Over 10 million acres have been conserved through market-based incentives in the past decade, showcasing the growing impact of such initiatives.
