Angola to Perform Its Second Demographic Census Since Independence

The Instituto Nacional de Estatística (INE), as the official statistics body of the Government of Angola, has scheduled the country's second General Population and Residency Census for 2024. The process includes updating the Census Mapping Grid, covering over 92,000 sections nationwide. A Pilot Census was also conducted in 7 provinces, 14 municipalities, and 14 communities.

In preparation, the INE trained Provincial, Municipal, and Community Technical Assistants under the guidance of the National Technical Group. This group has worked across the country to mobilize and raise public awareness for what is expected to be the largest statistical operation in a decade.

The actual Census will commence on September 19 and will span a duration of 30 days.
