APEQ and FSE-CSQ sign national agreements
Quebec, QC / ACCESSWIRE / Today, the Provincial Association of Teachers (APEQ) and the Federation of Teaching Unions (FSE-CSQ) signed a provincial agreement on the working conditions of the teachers they represent. The agreement, effective tomorrow, covers the next school year. Salary increases retroactive to April 1, 2023 will be paid within 60 days of signing.
Presidents Josée Scalabrini of FSE-CSQ and Steven LeSueur of APEQ praised the work of the negotiating teams. The agreement provides for progressive salary increases over five years, financial support for class composition, as well as several measures to ease the workload, such as partial teleworking and an increase in classroom assistants.
Despite this progress, both the FSE-CSQ and the APEQ believe that there is still work to be done to improve the working conditions of teachers. They particularly denounce the delays in negotiations for teachers of the Association of Employees of Northern Quebec (AENQ-CSQ) and call for an acceleration of discussions to meet essential needs.
