APOLAN Honors 2023 Award Winners for Advances in Optical LAN Technology

APOLAN, a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of Optical Local Area Networks (LAN), celebrated the achievements of its members by announcing the 2023 APOLAN Award winners. The accolades were presented during the Annual Member Meeting on February 8, 2024, recognizing innovation, excellence, and educational efforts within the optical LAN industry. The awards underscore the industry's movement towards adopting and evolving fiber optic local access networks for enterprise solutions.

Tellabs was awarded the APOLAN Education Award for its free Optical LAN Network Planning and Design Class, benefiting network engineers. The Excellence Award was shared by Corning, Dirtt, and Qypsys for their collaborative efforts on the Rock Hill Manufacturing Plant project, highlighting their achievement in the successful installation of OLAN systems. Tellabs also received the Innovation Award for creating the first optical LAN carbon reduction calculator, a tool for estimating carbon savings in IT and network operations. Additionally, ITTERA won the International Award for Miguelangel Ochoa’s significant contributions to the global promotion of optical LAN. The Champion Award was given to Ron Valez for his advocacy and implementation of optical LAN technologies in educational settings.
