Ardent Data Centers Initiates Major Upgrade at Pittsburgh Location
Northern Data Group's subsidiary, Ardent Data Centers, has started significant upgrades to its data center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The 41,000 square foot facility, acquired in January 2024, is being enhanced with advanced liquid cooling technology to increase its energy capacity from 5MW to 20MW. This enhancement supports the company's strategy to boost its colocation offerings across the United States and Europe.
The Pittsburgh site, conveniently located with under 10ms latency to major US Eastern cities, will become a state-of-the-art, high-density data center. Set to complete by Q4 2024, this development is part of Ardent's commitment to pioneering efficient, high-performance computing environments using sustainable energy sources like hydroelectric and wind power.
Aroosh Thillainathan, CEO of Northern Data Group, emphasizes that this project is pivotal for enhancing their infrastructure to leverage the high-performance computing market effectively. Corey Needles, Managing Director of Ardent Data Centers, noted that the Pittsburgh upgrade is essential for expanding their high-density, liquid-cooled data center solutions.
