Arkema's Decarbonization Efforts at Lacq/Mourenx Site
Arkema has finalized the modernization and decarbonization project at its Lacq/Mourenx site, which is focused on specialty sulfur derivatives for industries like agrochemicals and refinements. This follows an initial investment in 2022 that reduced the site's greenhouse gas emissions by 28%.
The new project features a sulfur-based effluent treatment plant, achieving a 40% reduction in SO2 and over 10% cut in greenhouse gas emissions. Additionally, the process will produce sulfuric acid, contributing to Arkema's circular economy initiative, and will decrease the site's water usage.
This €40 million investment is co-financed by the French State through the France 2030 plan managed by ADEME. Arkema is committed to minimizing its carbon footprint and aiding in the global warming battle by providing innovative, sustainable solutions.
