Ørsted Completes Divestment of European Onshore Business
Ørsted, a leader in offshore wind energy, has finalized the divestment of its European onshore business by signing an agreement with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP). The deal, valued at EUR 1.44 billion, is expected to close in Q2 2026 after regulatory approvals.
This transaction, alongside previous divestments of Hornsea 3 and Changhua 2, completes Ørsted's divestment programme as planned. The company has strengthened its financial position by realizing proceeds of approximately DKK 46 billion, exceeding its target of DKK 35 billion. This divestment allows Ørsted to focus on its core offshore wind markets in Europe.
Trond Westlie, CFO of Ørsted, expressed satisfaction with finding a new owner for the onshore business. Meanwhile, CIP continues to expand its presence across Europe by acquiring the onshore wind, solar, and battery storage assets from Ørsted.
