Avanza Reconvenes in El Paso to Promote Higher Education
EL PASO, TX / ACCESSWIRE / September 17, 2024 / After a five-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the Avanza Network will gather in El Paso from September 18 to 22 for its annual conference. The event mobilizes MIT Mexican-American alumni and friends to inspire higher education among high school students in underserved communities.
The conference features school visits where Avanza members share their journeys. The group will also hold an informal Q&A session at the University of Texas El Paso with students and parents. Since its formation in 2011, Avanza has inspired thousands of students nationwide.
"Inspiring our youth, especially from underprivileged communities, is more important than ever," stated Jacob Rael, Co-President of Avanza. Eddie Grado, Co-President, added, "With recent changes in university admissions policies, it's crucial for these kids to prepare for higher education early."
Avanza will distribute its inspiring books to schools during the conference. The books, which compile true stories of Avanza members, are available online.
