Avenues Recovery Centers in Louisiana Awarded Blue Distinction® Center Designation

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana has recognized Avenues Recovery Center at Metairie and Avenues Recovery Center at Covington. Both facilities received the prestigious Blue Distinction® Center for Substance Use Treatment and Recovery designation. This accolade is part of the Blue Distinction Specialty Care program, aimed at identifying facilities that deliver quality treatment and improved patient outcomes for substance use disorder.

The designation comes in response to the pressing opioid epidemic, with the CDC reporting approximately 188 American deaths daily due to opioid overdose. Avenues Recovery Center's Louisiana facilities have been at the forefront of providing comprehensive substance use disorder treatment since 2016. The Blue Distinction® designation acknowledges their commitment to offering multidisciplinary, evidence-based care, including medication-assisted treatment (MAT) in combination with behavioral therapy for opioid addiction.

Matt Engler, Regional Executive Director, expressed honor in receiving this designation, emphasizing its recognition of the quality care provided by their facilities. The Blue Distinction Specialty Care program, since 2006, has been instrumental in guiding patients to seek superior specialty care, ensuring better treatment quality and patient results.
