Avolta Extends Retail Contract with Athens International Airport Until 2034

Avolta AG, a leader in the global travel experience sector, has announced a ten-year extension of its retail contract at Athens International Airport, extending the partnership until the beginning of 2034. This extension will allow Avolta to maintain operations across its 31 retail stores, covering over 4,900 square meters of floor space at Greece’s busiest airport.

Since its inception in 2001, Avolta’s subsidiary, Hellenic Duty Free Shops, has managed duty-free stores at the airport. The recent expansions include a 290 square meter increase and updates to the Schengen area’s duty-free store, enhancing the shopping experience with an updated Perfume and Cosmetics section, and improved checkout processes including self-service options. These changes also aim to reflect the local Greek culture within the airport.

Luis Marin, President and CEO of Avolta EMEA, envisions the partnership boosting Mediterranean tourism and continuing to offer high-quality travel experiences. George Eleftherakos, Chief Development Officer at Athens International Airport, expressed enthusiasm about deepening their collaboration with Avolta, highlighting the shared goal of enhancing the Athenian airport experience for travelers.

Athens International Airport has experienced significant growth, with 2023 seeing a passenger increase surpassing both 2019 and 2022 levels. The airport continues to expand its commercial offerings, adopting numerous Greek and international brands.
