Aztec Minerals Reports Progress in Gold and Copper Exploration at Cervantes Project, Sonora

Aztec Minerals Corp. has released the final results from its 2023 RC drilling program for the Cervantes project in Sonora, Mexico, demonstrating notable progress in the exploration of gold and multi-element mineralization. The RC drill program, which consisted of 1,646 meters across 13 holes, aimed at expanding the known California target—rich in oxide gold porphyry mineralization within the Soyopa district.

Remarkable findings from the program include significant gold mineralization and the identification of anomalous copper, molybdenum, and silver. All drilled holes confirmed oxidized gold presence, hinting at the expansive potential of the California target, now measuring around 1,000 m by 300 m. This area is also shown to extend further east, broadening the exploration zone.

The results underscore the property's capacity for hosting a significant Au-Cu porphyry deposit, with RC drilling extending the mineralized depth and breadth. Mineralization is associated with copper, arsenic, silver, bismuth, tungsten, and potassium, indicating a classic porphyry model. The findings support ongoing exploration to delineate the open-pit, heap leach gold potential atop the porphyry oxide cap and evaluate deeper sulfide mineralization prospects.

Looking forward, Aztec Minerals plans to continue its exploration efforts with further technical studies and the Cervantes phase 3B RC drilling program, subject to funding availability. The commitment to expanding and understanding the mineral potential of the Cervantes project remains a core focus for Aztec Minerals Corp. as they explore this promising region in Sonora, Mexico.
