Banff Sunshine Village Unveils Super Angel Luxury Chairlift for Winter 2024

This winter, Banff Sunshine Village introduces the Super Angel, North America's first EVO six-passenger heated luxury chairlift. Built by Leitner-Poma, Super Angel will replace the 35-year-old quad chair, Angel Express, and will be operational by November 2025.

"Our goal is to enhance the guest experience at Banff Sunshine," said Kendra Scurfield, VP of Brand & Communications. The new lift features heated bucket seats, footrests, and a yellow bubble cover, offering a state-of-the-art experience.

Super Angel will service Look Out Mountain, a favored terrain. The original two-passenger lift, built in the 1960s, evolved to Angel Express in 1988, the first high-speed quad chair in Banff National Park, which revamped the skiing experience.

Leitner-Poma's EVO technology offers a smoother, quieter ride by eliminating the need for a traditional gearbox. Construction for Super Angel started on May 13, 2024, involving a wider lift line and new towers.

The old Angel Express will move to Castle Mountain Resort. Banff Sunshine guests can observe the construction of Super Angel this summer. "We're excited for the luxury and warmth this new lift will bring," added Scurfield.
