Commerzbank's SREP Capital Requirements Reduced for 2026
The European Central Bank has reduced Commerzbank's Pillar 2 capital requirement by 10 basis points to 2.15% for 2026. The leverage ratio requirement remains unchanged at 0.1%, ensuring a comfortable distance from the Maximum Distributable Amount threshold of 10.13% of risk-weighted assets. The updates come into effect from January 1, 2026.
As of June 2025, Commerzbank's CET1 ratio stood at 14.56%, significantly above the MDA threshold. The bank plans to maintain a CET1 ratio of 13.5% as part of its strategic goals until 2028. CEO Bettina Orlopp highlights the supervisory authorities' confidence in the bank's business model and growth trajectory.
