Befesa Acquires Full Ownership of Recytech Joint Venture

Befesa S.A. has acquired the remaining 50% stake in Recytech, its joint venture with Recylex S.A. in France, for €40 million. This acquisition is part of Befesa’s strategic global growth plan in Europe.

Founded in 1991, Recytech is located in Fouquières-lès-Lens, France, and processes steel dust from electric arc furnaces, producing Waelz oxide used in electrolytic zinc production. The site employs 50 people and recycles 110,000 tonnes of steel dust annually.

Javier Molina, Executive Chair of Befesa, stated that this acquisition strengthens Befesa’s position in Europe and offers potential for expanded operations. The deal also brings stability to Recytech’s workforce, following Recylex’s liquidation proceedings.

This move aligns with Befesa's sustainable global growth plan, which includes various projects across Europe, the US, and China, aimed at increasing steel dust recycling capacity.
