Biolog, Inc. Introduces New Odin VIII System for Mid-Throughput Laboratories
Biolog, Inc., a provider of microbial identification and profiling products, announced the release of the Odin VIII system. This launch expands the Odin family of instruments, catering specifically to laboratories with mid-tier throughput needs. The Odin VIII is designed as a more compact yet equally capable version of its predecessors, offering powerful cellular analysis and microbial characterization capabilities.
Odin VIII maintains the all-in-one functionality of the Odin line, enabling simultaneous incubation and analysis of up to eight plates. This feature aids in studying microbial response to environments and offers insights into cellular physiology and metabolic processes. Odin VIII supports the same detection methods and uses identical Biolog microplates as the original Odin, now rebranded as Odin L, which can handle 50 plates simultaneously.
The introduction of Odin VIII aims to meet the demands of various laboratory settings, including academic research, fermentation, and sustainable agriculture. It stands as a medium throughput solution that balances performance and computational efficiency, complementing the high throughput Odin L. According to Biolog CEO Robert Wicke, this new instrument is expected to enhance lab productivity while ensuring flexibility in microbial analysis.
