Cable Matters Launches the World's First Thunderbolt 5 Cable With Enhanced Performance
Cable Matters, a leading provider of connectivity solutions, has unveiled its Thunderbolt™ 5 cable. The product, made by Lintes Technology Co., Ltd., comes in three lengths: 1 foot, 1.6 feet, and 3.3 feet. This new cable supports bi-directional data transfer rates of up to 80 Gbps and video bandwidth up to 120 Gbps, a substantial improvement over Thunderbolt 4.
Equipped with Bandwidth Boost technology, the Thunderbolt 5 cable can support up to 120 Gbps for display applications. This advancement is ideal for high-resolution video streaming, extensive data transfers, and high-speed gaming. The cable also provides backward compatibility with Thunderbolt 4, Thunderbolt 3, USB4, and DisplayPort 2.1 standards, ensuring wide device compatibility.
Jason Ziller, Intel's vice-president, praised the new technology as a significant progression in connectivity. The Thunderbolt 5 cable offers features like support for multiple 6K or 8K displays, enhanced charging capabilities up to 240W, and high-speed connections over longer distances. Gamers will benefit from a 540Hz refresh rate on a single display or three 4K 144Hz displays.
