California Olive Oil Council Celebrates Industry Excellence at 16th Annual Olive Oil Competition

Last weekend, the California Olive Oil Council (COOC) marked a significant event by hosting its first in-person Annual Member Meeting since 2019. This assembly, attended by industry figures such as UC Davis Olive Center’s Javier Fernandez Salvador and AOOPA’s Kimberly Houlding, focused on essential updates in regulations, research, and marketing, highlighting the growth of California's extra virgin olive oil sector.

During the event, the COOC announced the winners of its 16th Annual Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition, celebrating producers across the state. The competition judged entries from the 2023 harvest, awarding the top honors of Best of Show to The Ranch at Birch Creek for its Italian Blend. The competition also recognized Best in Class, Gold, and Silver medalists in various categories, underlining the diversity and quality of California's olive oil production.

The COOC extended congratulations to all winners, emphasizing their commitment to superior quality and practice in olive oil production. It also thanked consumers and retailers for supporting 100% California-certified extra virgin olive oil. This event underscores the COOC's role in promoting excellence within the industry.
