Camino Minerals to Begin Drilling Program at Maria Cecilia Porphyry Project
VANCOUVER, BC / ACCESSWIRE / May 29, 2024 / Camino Minerals Corporation (TSXV:COR)(OTC PINK:CAMZF)(WKN:A116E1) will initiate a drilling campaign at its Maria Cecilia copper porphyry project in Peru on June 1, 2024. The company aims to discover copper mineralization and estimate zonation for further drilling. Past drilling at nearby Toropunto and Emmanuel has completed over 30,000 meters and the Maria Cecilia drilling targets a central section of the 5-kilometer porphyry complex.
Notable past results include 40 meters at 1.34% CuEq from Toropunto and 46 meters at 0.61% CuEq from Emmanuel. Geological consultant Jose Bassan noted the potential for both reactive host rocks and porphyry deposits. The initial drill will go 750 meters deep at Porphyry 1, with copper oxide observed at the surface suggesting deeper copper, gold, and molybdenum deposits.
Camino's team recorded up to 0.7% Copper in surface rock samples, comparable to historical data, and will drill two 750-meter holes at Porphyry 1 and Porphyry 2. Reactive host rocks, particularly Goyllarisquizga group’s sandstone and limestones, could host significant copper mineralization.
A new drilling target, Porphyry 3, was identified during platform construction, featuring metasediments with quartz-sericite alteration and oxidized copper. The Maria Cecilia complex includes historical resources at Toropunto and Emmanuel, indicating potential copper, gold, and molybdenum deposits.
