Carrefour and Cooperative U Launch Concordis Buying Alliance
Carrefour and Coopérative U have announced the formation of Concordis, a European buying alliance aimed at increasing purchasing competitiveness by pooling resources. The alliance will focus on negotiating purchase prices and offering international services, specifically targeting multinational suppliers in European markets where both entities operate. The initial six-year term will begin with the 2026 negotiations.
Headquartered in Brussels, Concordis leverages Carrefour's expansive European presence and the cooperative strengths of Coopérative U. Both companies are open to expanding the alliance by welcoming other European retailers, further enhancing their market position. Concordis is designed to foster transparent relationships with suppliers, emphasizing the balance of the agri-food supply chain.
Beyond purchasing, Carrefour and Coopérative U plan future collaborations. Potential areas include private label joint auctions and expertise sharing in non-food sectors. As part of its digital strategy, Coopérative U intends to partner with Unlimitail, a venture between Publicis and Carrefour, to advance its Retail Media strategy.
