Carrefour Partners with GreenYellow to Produce Photovoltaic Power in France

The Carrefour Group today announced a partnership with GreenYellow, the leader in decentralized energy transition in France and internationally. The collaboration focuses on installing and operating photovoltaic power production equipment on around 350 of Carrefour’s hypermarket and supermarket car parks in France. This initiative aligns with the Carrefour 2026 plan, aiming to enhance real estate assets with a solar power production target of 1 TWh per year in France, Spain, and Brazil by 2027.

The partnership offers several advantages, including significant reductions in energy bills through self-consumption, contributing to the goal of using 100% renewable energy by 2030, early compliance with the ApER Law on photovoltaic panels, and improved customer satisfaction with shade structures.

The equipment, financed by GreenYellow, will enable an annual electricity production of about 450 GWh within three years. This output covers around 20% of Carrefour stores’ needs at attractive rates, with surplus production benefiting the surrounding network or local consumers, generating additional revenue.

Carrefour's CEO, Alexandre Bompard, highlighted the partnership as a major milestone in the company’s Carrefour 2026 plan, emphasizing its strategic focus on combating climate change and achieving renewable electricity goals by 2030.
