Cheech and Chong's Global Holding Company Challenges AB 2223 in California

Cheech and Chong's Global Holding Company (CCGHC) opposes California's AB 2223 unless amended, voicing concerns over its potential impact on the availability of hemp-derived THC beverages sold statewide.

AB 2223 aims to build on AB 45 but introduces new limitations that could render compliant low-dose products non-compliant. Brandon Harshbarger, President of CCGHC, emphasized that their rigorously tested beverages should be regulated like alcohol, not subjected to restrictive regulations.

Andrew Lee, Chief Legal Officer at CCGHC, stressed the need for regulatory distinctions between responsibly produced low-dose beverages and unregulated high-dose products. He advocates for regulations benefiting consumer safety and the cannabis industry.
