CliniOps Receives U.S. Patent for Advancing Clinical Trials with Offline Data Collection Technology

CliniOps, Inc., a company specializing in technology and data science for the life science industry, has been granted U.S. Patent No. 11,967,402 for a system designed to manage clinical trials (CTs) effectively, even in remote locations. Titled "System and Method for Offline Data Collection and Synchronization for Managing a Clinical Trial," the patent was awarded by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) on April 23, 2024. The technology primarily addresses the challenge of data collection in regions with limited electronic connectivity, such as parts of Africa and Low and Middle Income Countries.

The newly patented technology enables clinical trial sites to transition from paper to electronic data collection using mobile devices. It ensures the digital conduct of trials and inclusion of participants from diverse geographical locations. This system is essential for running large-scale, multi-center CTs, supporting the inclusion of underrepresented populations. The offline capability allows for data collection in areas without internet access, with subsequent synchronization when connectivity is restored.

Avik Kumar Pal, CEO, and Yerramalli Subramaniam, CTO of CliniOps, have been listed as inventors of the patent. They highlight the technology’s importance in enhancing data collection processes in clinical trials by ensuring accuracy and real-time data availability for study monitors, thus minimizing the need for extensive data cleaning.
