Coffman Engineers Expands with Acquisition of Donald F. Dickerson Associates

On April 22, 2024, Coffman Engineers, Inc. (Coffman) announced the completion of an asset purchase agreement with Donald F. Dickerson Associates, Inc. (DFDA), integrating the Los Angeles-based MEP engineering firm into Coffman's operations. The agreement was signed on April 19th by representatives from both firms, introducing three DFDA owners and 18 staff members into the Coffman team.

DFDA, established in 1961, is known for its significant contributions to the Los Angeles skyline, offering specialized experience in projects including high rises, multi-family, and mixed-use developments. April Trafton, President of DFDA, expressed enthusiasm for the merger, citing continuity for clients and career opportunities for employees as key benefits. She noted the merger honors her father’s legacy, anticipating a seamless integration with Coffman’s additional resources and services.

Jonathan Wirthlin, Coffman's Managing Principal in LA, highlighted the shared commitment to quality and the strong existing relationships between the two teams, which anticipates a smooth transition. Coffman plans to relocate the DFDA team to its new West San Fernando Valley office soon, aiming to bolster its MEP capacity while maintaining the high-quality service standards set by DFDA.
