Compagnie des Alpes to Cease Management of Tignes Ski Area in 2026
Paris, August 9, 2024 – Compagnie des Alpes, through its subsidiary STGM, will relinquish management of the Tignes ski area in 2026 following the decision by the Tignes Municipal Council to establish a Local Public Company (SPL). The current Public Service Delegation (PSD) contract expires on May 31, 2026.
STGM, 78% owned by Compagnie des Alpes, has managed the Tignes ski area since 1989/90. After nearly 37 years, nearly 300 STGM employees will transfer to the new SPL. Assets including ski lifts will be handed over for an estimated 103 million euros, subject to adjustment. Additional equipment valued at 7.5 million euros may also be acquired.
Compagnie des Alpes has invested around 140 million euros over the last decade, resulting in an 8% increase in skier-days and a 74% reduction in the ski area’s carbon footprint. The company's commitment to service quality has earned a high customer satisfaction score.
Future investments will be considered selectively, using proceeds from the sale and compensation. Other contracts with Val d'Isère, Brides-les-Bains, Les Menuires, and Méribel-les-Allues remain unaffected.
