Cooke Seafood Companies Deliver Essential Ice to North Carolina
Wanchese Fish Company and Shoreland Trucking, both part of the Cooke Seafood USA family, have responded promptly to the aftermath of Hurricane Helene in Western North Carolina. An 18-wheeler semi-trailer truckload of ice was sent to Marion, a pivotal center for disaster aid in the Asheville area.
The North Carolina Fisheries Association had called for help from the seafood industry, highlighting the necessity for ice amid power outages to conserve food and perishable items. Wanchese Fish Company reacted swiftly, delivering ice directly to impacted regions.
The ice, packed at Wanchese's Suffolk facility, included equipment for individuals lacking coolers. The delivery arrived in Marion early last Friday, facilitating immediate distribution.
Historically supportive in crises, North Carolina's seafood sector, led by Wanchese, collaborated with NCFA to enhance logistics and minimize delays.
