Coppernico Secures Key Permit for Drilling in Peru's Sombrero Project
Coppernico Metals Inc. announced obtaining the Start of Activities Permit for its Sombrero Project in Ayacucho, Peru, allowing the commencement of drilling activities. This permit marks a significant step in the project's development, with only the water permit pending. Coppernico is finalizing its selection of a drill contractor, signaling the start of its inaugural drilling program following financing and listing.
The permit encompasses 972.92 hectares with identified drill targets within the Sombrero Main target area, promising up to 48 holes from 38 drill pads. This initiative is seen as a potential boost to local employment and sustainable development in the area. CEO Ivan Bebek highlighted the permit as a pivotal achievement stemming from the team's dedication and strategic planning, underlining Coppernico's commitment to socio-economic contributions in its operational regions.
The Sombrero project is positioned within the Andahuaylas-Yauri mining trend, resembling significant mines like Las Bambas and Tintaya in geological features. The project area, comprising a nearly 100,000-hectare land package, displays copper-gold mineralization and skarn alteration. Coppernico aims to systematically test and explore various priority targets within the SOMbrero Main intrusive complex.
The company continues to pursue additional permits and access agreements to expand its exploration pipeline across the Sombrero project. Technical validations by qualified persons ensure the scientific integrity of the exploration data, as Coppernico prepares for an articulate drilling strategy.
