Daldrup & Söhne AG Receives Order for Geothermal Drilling in Oldenburg
Daldrup & Söhne AG has received a significant order from Oldenburg Baederbetrieb for geothermal drilling. The contract, valued at around 5 million euros, involves conducting exploratory and doublet drillings, each approximately 1,400 meters deep. These operations are scheduled to commence in the fourth quarter of 2024.
The project aims to contribute to Oldenburg's goal of climate-neutral heat supply by utilizing medium-depth geothermal energy. The thermal water, expected to reach around 50°C, will be harnessed along with large heat pumps to provide sustainable heating for the new sports and health bath at Oldenburger Floetenteich.
This initiative underscores the growing interest in geothermal energy in Lower Saxony. According to a recent report by the Lower Saxony State Office for Mining, Energy, and Geology, the number of licensed fields for geothermal exploration has been increasing since 2022. The project aligns with regional and federal legislation mandating the development of heat plans by 2026, offering a reliable and economical energy solution for many cities and districts.
