Deezer and Sacem Introduce Fairer Publishing Rights Model

In a significant move, Deezer and Sacem have announced the adoption of an Artist Centric Payment System (ACPS) for publishing rights on Deezer in France. This marks the first such update since streaming began over 15 years ago, aiming to provide fairer compensation to artists.
Deezer's CEO Alexis Lanternier highlighted the initiative's role in directing more subscriber payments to artists, while also combating fraudulent streams. The system rewards musicians with consistent engagement, ensuring that the platform prioritizes genuine music enjoyment.
Cécile Rap-Veber, CEO of Sacem, emphasized the importance of this innovation in optimizing the value of their members' works. The ACPS model excludes noise and respects diversity in music genres, representing a shift towards a sustainable music economy.
This development follows the 2023 launch of ACPS for recorded music and solidifies Deezer and Sacem's leadership in transforming digital music landscapes.
