Delignit and Amorim Cork Composites Launch FiberCork for Sustainable EV Batteries

Blomberg, Germany / Porto, Portugal, 29th of May 2024. Delignit AG, a leading manufacturer of ecological wood-based products, and Amorim Cork Composites, a unit of Corticeira Amorim, the world leader in the cork industry, have developed FiberCork. This innovative range aims to provide sustainable solutions for electric vehicle (EV) batteries.

As demand for electric vehicles grows, so does the need for more sustainable materials that do not compromise performance and safety. FiberCork addresses this challenge by offering a range of applications like thermal insulation pads, bulkhead partition walls, and module covers. This product is specifically designed for high-voltage battery systems and contributes to reducing carbon emissions.

FiberCork combines the innovative cork composite capabilities of Amorim Cork Composites with Delignit's expertise in beech wood transformation. This partnership aims to enhance electric mobility's environmental friendliness. Key properties of cork, such as low density and thermal insulation, are complemented by beech wood’s resistance, making FiberCork a unique solution that meets stringent industry standards.

João Pedro Azevedo, CEO of Amorim Cork Composites, emphasizes the company's history in delivering high-performance solutions to demanding sectors, and believes FiberCork will significantly benefit the e-mobility market. Markus Büscher, CEO of Delignit Group, asserts that the collaboration has potential to become a gamechanger in decarbonizing EV technology.
