Deutsche Beteiligungs AG Continues Strategic Growth with MAIT GmbH Acquisition
Deutsche Beteiligungs AG (DBAG) is advancing its strategic portfolio with the acquisition of MAIT GmbH. The transaction, part of a management buyout, reinforces DBAG's consistent method of collaborating with founders and operational leaders. While the financial details were not fully disclosed, the previous owner, 3i Group, highlighted gross proceeds of approximately €165 million. Industry estimates suggest an enterprise value between €220-250 million, marking it as one of DBAG’s significant investments.
MAIT GmbH, an IT services provider, specializes in digital transformation for the Mittelstand in the DACH region. The company has grown to €200 million in annual sales, largely recurring, reflecting its expansion strategy. This acquisition aligns with DBAG’s focus on high-quality, cash-generative businesses, enhancing its position in software and IT services.
The remaining dry powder for DBAG Fund VIII is estimated at 40%, with expectations of further acquisitions. Despite its investments, DBAG's current share price suggests undervaluation with potential for special dividends and buy-back programs.
