Donald F. Dickerson Associates Set to Merge with Coffman Engineers

Coffman Engineers, Inc., a multi-discipline consulting engineering firm, announced an impending merger with Donald F. Dickerson Associates, Inc. (DFDA), a Los Angeles-based mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineering company. A letter of intent confirming the asset purchase agreement has been executed, with April 2024 slated for finalization. This merger will incorporate DFDA’s three owners and 18 employees into Coffman.

April Trafton, President of DFDA, expressed enthusiasm about the merger, highlighting the continuation of DFDA’s client service and the enhanced resources now available through Coffman. The integration of DFDA is viewed as a continuation of its family-oriented legacy, initiated by its founder Donald Dickerson.

The shared project experiences and the long-standing relationship between the two firms are seen as a solid foundation for this transition. Jonathan Wirthlin, Vice President and Los Angeles Managing Principal of Coffman, emphasized the shared commitment to quality service and friendly work culture between the teams.

Upon completing the agreement, DFDA will operate under Coffman Engineers and continue its client and project commitments without changes in staff or service quality. The merger aims to extend Coffman’s capabilities in MEP services while maintaining its focus on civil, structural, and fire protection engineering.
