EcoGraf Begins Commissioning of Advanced Battery Material Production Facility

EcoGraf Limited has commenced the commissioning of its Product Qualification Facility (PQF) in Western Australia, marking a significant move towards supplying high purity battery anode materials to the global battery and electric vehicle markets. Operations are set to begin in April 2024, with the facility targeting initial production campaigns throughout the year.

The PQF, showcasing EcoGraf's HFfree™ proprietary technology, will validate the technical feasibility of the company's processes on a larger scale. This milestone is expected to attract potential customers by providing larger product samples and detailed technical data. The data will assist in engineering and location studies for a commercial scale facility aimed at the anode, battery, and electric vehicle sectors across Europe, North America, and Asia.

Recent advancements in the facility's flowsheet are anticipated to further reduce costs and exceed customer specifications for material purity. The Australian Government has supported the initiative through the Commonwealth Government’s Critical Minerals Development Program, contributing $2.9 million in grant funding to the project.

The successful operation of the PQF is a critical step towards establishing a commercial scale active anode material operation. This development stems from the company's Epanko project, aiming to diversify supply away from Chinese chains and towards emerging lithium-ion battery manufacturing hubs.
