EcoGraf partners with BASF for anode recycling
EcoGraf Limited announces a collaboration with BASF through a non-binding memorandum of understanding. This agreement establishes a collaborative framework to support BASF's R&D efforts in Europe in the field of anode recycling, leveraging EcoGraf's recycling capabilities. The goal is to promote a circular economy and reduce CO2 emissions.
The collaboration includes the use of EcoGraf's proprietary purification process to recover anode material from BASF's leached black mass, a substance generated from production scraps and end-of-life lithium-ion batteries. EcoGraf will also mix the recycled anode with its high-purity, high-performance Tanzanian graphite to enhance reuse and adoption by customers. Test results will be used to refine the recycling scheme and plant design.
BASF, a leader in the chemical sector based in Ludwigshafen, Germany, is committed to a circular value chain for batteries. The company plans to inaugurate its prototype battery recycling plant in Schwarzheide, Germany, this year.
This anode recycling program represents a key step for EcoGraf in its plans to expand anode recycling activities on a commercial scale.
