EcoGraf's TanzGraphite Facility Set to Enhance Graphite Value in Tanzania

EcoGraf Limited has finalized an engineering study for its TanzGraphite Mechanical Shaping Facility in Ifakara, Tanzania. This pivotal facility will transform 20,000 tonnes of Epanko flake graphite annually into spherical graphite, targeting battery-grade anode material for lithium-ion batteries. The construction costs are estimated at $58.6 million, while the operating cost stands at $419 per tonne, benefiting from Tanzania's power and transport advantages.

The facility aims to exploit the Export Processing Zone for further incentives, including a decade-long tax exemption. EcoGraf's engagement with the EU could bolster development plans, focusing on value-addition, especially EcoGraf's GreenRECARB initiative. This facility ties into EcoGraf's broader strategy to establish HFfree™ purification plants in Europe, promoting a sustainable graphite supply chain.
