EDF Estimates Higher Nuclear Power Generation in France for 2024
EDF has announced a revision of its estimate for nuclear power generation in France for 2024. The initial estimate of 315-345 TWh has been increased to 340-360 TWh. This adjustment is attributed to improved performance related to outages and industrial control of stress corrosion inspections and repair work.
EDF's achievements have been bolstered by the implementation of the START 2025 action plan, which began in 2019. The plan focuses on improving operational efficiency through industrialisation, capitalisation, and standardisation of outage preparation methods. It also includes a refined strategy for resource allocation and enhanced employee training.
Additionally, since early 2024, eleven reactors have been reconnected to the grid ahead of schedule. This success is underscored by the absence of major climatic events during the summer.
