Eiffage and De Romein Secure Contract for Amprion’s Rhein-Main-Link Project
Eiffage, through its German subsidiary Eiffage Infra-Bau, has formed a 50/50 joint venture with De Romein Group. This consortium has won a partnership contract awarded by German TSO Amprion GmbH. The contract focuses on civil engineering for transporting electricity from North Sea offshore wind farms to the Rhein-Main region in southern Germany.
The project entails creating a 600-kilometre energy corridor from Lower Saxony to Hesse. After a design phase with Amprion, construction is scheduled between 2028 and 2032. The corridor will house four transmission lines with a total capacity of 8 GW, supporting both industries and nearly six million residents in the Rhein-Main region with low-carbon energy.
The consortium will work closely with Amprion GmbH to define civil engineering tasks for each project phase. For each section, a target price will be set, considering local specifics.
