Electric Metals (USA) Limited recently provided updates on its ongoing metallurgical test works on manganese extraction, collaborating with Kemetco Research Inc. The focus has primarily shifted to developing an optimized mining process after achieving over 90% manganese extraction through advanced leaching methods using a reductant. This follows prior tests that confirmed a recovery rate increase from 80% utilizing a leaching protocol involving SO2.

The company has conducted tests on different manganese ore composites, leading to significant yield improvements without preliminary ore concentration. The Emily manganese deposit in central Minnesota, belonging to Electric Metals, serves as the crucial source for these activities. Kemetco's work is pivoting towards refining the acid leach tests and the continued production of high-value manganese products crucial for modern energy solutions, such as electric vehicle batteries.

Brian Savage, CEO of Electric Metals, expressed satisfaction with the advancements and highlighted the ongoing efforts to produce High Purity Manganese Sulphate Monohydrate (HPMSM) for the EV battery industry.
