Emerging leaders in the African energy sector in 2025

The African Energy Chamber has unveiled its list of “Top 40 Movers and Shakers” for 2025. These leaders are influencing the development of Africa’s energy sector with a focus on sustainability, investment and energy sovereignty. Among them are notable figures like Donald Trump whose influence could reshape the US-Africa energy relationship.

African leaders such as Mozambique’s Daniel Francisco Chapo and Ghana’s John Mahama are focusing on innovation and reform to attract investment and spur energy growth. In Uganda and Angola, ministers are shepherding large-scale oil projects while managing the challenges of decarbonization and international sanctions.

Khalifa Abdulsadek and Rachid Hachichi from the Libyan and Algerian oil sectors are increasing production to meet global demand, while private sector leaders like Claudio Descalzi and Katrina Fisher are setting new milestones in the energy transition and local empowerment.
